Matthew Carpenter here. I have been creating for as long as I can remember. It spans quite a number of mediums and approaches. Recently, I read “The Creative Act” by Rick Rubin and it shook me a bit. It made me come to terms with many things I certainly knew about myself, but never really articulated to myself or out loud.
The act of being a creator or the recently popularized “maker” is an act of being, not an act of doing. No matter what I have done in life, I have brought this element into it both personally and professionally.
I decided to use this site, which I have had for over 20 years, to post all types of creation in my past and present. I am not looking to sell anything or look for accolades. I just realized that I should not just keep it hidden. Some have been in portfolio bags for many years. I may also add a blog to post about art here and there as well.
Time to break it out. Time to just be.
